About the lab

Independent research for complex markets.

Hybrid AI Labs is a research and engineering project focused on building trading systems, data tools, and evaluation workflows with explicit assumptions and testable behaviour.

01 / PURPOSE

Build systems worth interrogating.

Markets reward simple stories in hindsight. Engineering requires a different posture: define the mechanism, trace the system, challenge the result, and stay precise about uncertainty.

Hybrid AI Labs exists to do that work. The lab combines quantitative research, trading-system engineering, market-data practice, and carefully bounded AI assistance.

02 / WHY HYBRID

Different tools. Explicit roles.

“Hybrid” does not mean handing the entire system to a black box.

Human judgement

Frames the question

Defines the research problem, evaluates evidence, and decides where automation should stop.

Deterministic systems

Execute the specification

Make rules, state transitions, constraints, and repeatable behaviour explicit.

AI assistance

Supports the workflow

Can help organise information, examine patterns, and accelerate tooling under reviewable controls.

03 / PRINCIPLES

How the lab works.

Evidence over narrative
A compelling explanation is not a substitute for a test designed to disprove it.
Modularity over opacity
Components should expose their inputs, outputs, state, and failure behaviour.
Data with provenance
Research inputs should be identifiable, checked, and interpreted in the context of their source.
Restraint in public claims
Backtests, development status, and product readiness should be described exactly as they are.
Markets beyond one thesis
Current work can be specific without making the lab permanently dependent on one instrument or market.
